Dear Concerned Carroll Electric members and supporters:
Carroll Electric CEO Rob Boaz has denied Marcie Brewster and her canvasser’s request for a recount and list of invalid signatures. Additionally, Mr. Boaz has turned over the petitions and back-up documents to CE’s attorney, John Everett, and has informed Ms. Brewster and her supporters to direct any further questions concerning the petitions to Mr. Everett.
Wayne Schumacher, CE member and canvasser, contacted Mr. Everett and made a request to view and/or copy the petitions. Mr. Everett indicated that he could set up in a corner at his office one weekday morning and review the petitions. A follow-up call was made on Friday April 22 to verify this arrangement as well as ask for a copy and a chance to review back up documents. On Monday April 24, John Everett replied that we cannot have a copy and the earliest we can review the petitions is May 23 at 10:00 am. This is three days before the Annual Meeting.
We have included links to the most recent articles and letters to the editor regarding the petition process and denial by CE. We encourage everyone to write letters to the editors of your local papers to keep this issue alive.
CE denies nomination, turns Brewster away
A concerned member has informed us that Alan Hunnicutt of the CE Board of Directors plans to attend the National Rural Electrical Cooperative Association (NRECA) annual Legislative Conference May 2-4. The NRECA states that it welcomes co-op grassroots advocates to Washington for the Legislative Conference and that the group spends time on Capitol Hill talking to congressional delegations about legislative issues affecting electric co-ops and their members.
We urge you to contact Mr. Hunnicutt and ask him which issues he plans to carry forward on your behalf as a CE member. He may be contacted at Rr 3, Berryville, AR 72616, (870) 423-2747
Please plan to attend the CE Annual Members Meeting on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Time and location to be announced.
